I love the mineral austerity here with racy cherries, wet stones, some sweet blueberries and graphite. The firm tannins are so powdery and mineral and melt into the palate. A remarkable expression of the warm 2020 vintage from Paraje Altamira.
Intense notes of pastry, yogurt, white chocolate, lime tree and lemon bush. Large yet round mousse, a lean body, crisp acidity and a chewy finish
Aromas of red cherries, subtle violets, rose petals and hibiscus. The palate is medium-bodied with precise tannins and delineated red fruit. Tightly wound and pleasantly incisive, with vibrant acidity. Transparent and ethereal, yet showing a voluminous side as well. This comes from vineyards planted on calcareous soil at around 500 meters
A chewy, muscular blend of grenache, syrah and mourvedre. Dark berries, bark and roasted meat on the nose, following through to a full body with chewy tannins. Firm, with a short, powdery and compact finish.
An excellent white Chateauneuf that displays the strengths of the vintage. Intense preserved lemon and lime aromas are married to a compact structure on the full-bodied but focused palate. Some sage and thyme, too. Impressive drive and energy in the racy finish. A cuvee of 60% clairette, 20% grenache blanc, 10% roussanne and 10% bourboulenc.
A creamy Champagne, lightly biscuity, showing notes of pears, apples and honey. It’s medium-bodied with soft bubbles and a gentle finish. Chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier, based on the 2019 harvest (55-60%), blended with a perpetual reserve, some of which aged in magnums for four years prior to blending.
Rich and fleshy with substantial depth, this is a bold and full-bodied Chateauenuf. Full red berry and dry earth aromas with some balsamic character. The full, soft tannins nicely underpin this expansive wine.
A rich, creamy and smoky red with blackberries, dark cherries, baking spices and hints of kirsch on the nose. Full body with plush tannins. Round with lots of dark berries on the generous palate. Quite chewy at the finish.
The firmness and focus here is really something with lead pencil shavings and graphite, with some red fruits underneath which then turns to bark and mushroom. Forest floor. Unique. Drinkable, but even better in three or four years.
The nose unveils a bouquet of white flowers, lemon, lime and toasted bread, accented by a subtle minerality. On the palate, vibrant citrus notes meet a refined chalky texture, softened by a touch of acacia honey. A smooth, creamy mouthfeel reflects its extended aging process, leading to a pure, saline finish.
Very perfumed Valpolicella with delicious vermouth-like aromas full of licorice, black pepper, blood oranges and sweet spices. Smooth and silky with crisp acidity and a medium body. Chalky tannins are well-balanced by the fruit concentration. Good length. Drink now.
Very vibrant and crisp for a Southern Rhone white. Ripe lemon and pomelo aromas are married to delicate creaminess on the medium-bodied palate. I love the interplay of waxy and salty character in the lively finish. A cuvee of 40% clairette, 30% bourboulenc, 20% grenache blanc and 10% ugni blanc. Fermented and matured entirely in stainless steel.
